Frequently Asked Questions

  • All treatments are confidential and my main goal is to help reduce any pain or discomfort that you may have, it can also assist in the increase of your flexibility and mobility. By doing so, this will improve your quality of life, such as having better night’s sleep, reducing muscle tension, improved circulation, it assists with stimulating the lymphatic system, helping with your mental alertness, reducing anxiety and depression and so much more.

It takes time for your body to change and depending on the injury/pain or whatever your problem may be, it takes time to bring the body back to balance and harmony.

  • Every individual’s body is unique, and as such, the time it takes to see results can vary depending on your specific condition. Generally, many clients begin to experience noticeable improvements after three consecutive treatments, spaced one week apart. For most, 2 to 5 treatments are typically sufficient, particularly in cases of acute pain or discomfort.

The initial three treatments offer an opportunity to assess your body’s response, allowing me to balance your system, monitor your progress, and develop the most effective treatment plan for you.

Just as your car requires regular maintenance to keep running smoothly, your body also benefits from ongoing care. Bowen therapy can help maintain your body’s well-being and prevent issues from recurring. Therefore, regular maintenance treatments may be something you wish to consider to keep your body in optimal condition.

  • Post-Treatment Care and What to Expect

After your Bowen therapy session, we recommend the following to help support your recovery and ensure the best results:

    • Drink 6-8 glasses of filtered water to stay hydrated and support your body’s healing process.

    • Avoid crossing your arms or legs, as this may interfere with the flow of energy and movement within your body.

    • If possible, try to move around or take a short walk every 30 minutes to keep your circulation active.

    • Refrain from using hot or cold packs for a few days, as your body is adjusting to the treatment.

    • Begin any prescribed exercises the following day (if applicable) to support your healing and progress.

    What You May Experience

In the hours and days following your treatment, you might notice the following:

    • You may feel a little tired as your body works to process the treatment and restore balance.

    • Changes in your body may become noticeable over the next 3-4 days as your system adjusts to the treatment.

    • Many clients report feeling an overall sense of improvement and well-being.

    • If you experience any discomfort, it may be more localized and specific to the area being treated.

These reactions are natural as your body responds to Bowen therapy, and they typically subside after a few days. If you have any concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

  • The Importance of Ongoing Treatment

The second treatment plays a crucial role in building upon the foundation set during your first session, and can often be just as important, if not more, in ensuring lasting results. Once your condition is resolved, you have the flexibility to schedule treatments as needed or opt for regular maintenance to sustain your progress.

The benefits of Bowen therapy for you include:

    • A greater sense of health and well-being, with improved mobility and freedom of movement.

    • A reduced likelihood of previous conditions reoccurring, supporting long-term health.

    • Enhanced relaxation and a sense of calm, helping to manage daily stress.

    • Improved ability to cope with stress, leading to a more balanced and resilient mind and body.

Whether for ongoing maintenance or as needed, Bowen therapy can help you continue to feel your best.

  • Post-Treatment Recommendations

    Walking
Taking gentle walks is an important part of your recovery process. As your body works to reset and recalibrate, light walking helps to continue sending beneficial signals to your brain, supporting the healing process.

    Water
Staying hydrated is essential after your treatment. Drinking plenty of water helps flush out toxins that may have been released during the session, and ensures proper hydration to support your body’s circulation and overall function.

    Wait
Just as when an app is being downloaded onto your phone, your body and mind need time to adjust to the messages sent during your treatment. Give yourself the time and space to let this process unfold naturally, and allow your body to integrate the benefits of Bowen therapy.

  • My primary goal is to help you achieve pain relief and improve your overall well-being. Through Bowen therapy, I work to reduce discomfort and support your body’s natural healing process. In addition to treatments, I may suggest stretching and strengthening exercises where appropriate, to further assist in your recovery and long-term health.

I believe in the importance of proactive care and encourage clients to consider regular Bowen treatments as part of a preventative approach. By maintaining treatment, you can reduce the risk of injuries flaring up and avoid the cycle of pain returning, allowing you to stay in optimal health.

I am proud to hold a Diploma in Bowen Therapy, as well as a Master's degree in the field. This advanced training allows me to offer you a highly skilled and informed approach to your care.

  • While both Bowen Therapy and massage are hands-on treatments that aim to support the body’s healing, they work in very different ways.

Massage therapy typically involves continuous, repetitive strokes and pressure applied to the muscles to encourage relaxation and release tension. It primarily targets the muscle tissue directly, aiming to relieve tightness and improve circulation.

Bowen Therapy, on the other hand, works more gently and specifically. It targets the fascia — the soft connective tissue that surrounds and supports all the muscles, bones, nerves, arteries, veins, and organs in the body. Through a series of precise, rolling movements over specific points, Bowen Therapy sends subtle messages to the nervous system, prompting the body to begin correcting imbalances on its own.

Each Bowen move acts as a cue that encourages the body to reduce inflammation, rehydrate the fascial tissue, and restore normal muscle tone. Whether a muscle is overly tight or too lax, Bowen helps to return it to its proper function. This process not only supports muscular balance but can also enhance the function of internal organs and overall tissue health.

One of the unique aspects of Bowen Therapy is that it continues working in the days following your session, gently guiding the body back toward its natural state of balance and wellness.
